Ajanta
Famous for its caves, Ajanta is a historical and architectural marvel of India. A World Heritage site today, the Ajanta group of caves, located deep in the Sahyadri hills above the Waghora, depicts stories of Buddhism that prevailed in the region during 200 BC to 650 AD.

Daulatabad Fort

Located 13 kms from Aurangabad en route Ellora, was built during the 12th century. Situated on a pyramid shaped hill, this imposing fortress attracts the attention of all. The Daulatabad fortress, initially known as ’Devgiri’, was built during the times of Yadav dynasty by king Bhillama. Later Mohammed Bin Tughlaq, Sultan of Delhi, changed the name ofthe entire place to Daulatabad. A 5 km massive wall around the fort, spiked gates and the Chand Minar, 30 metre high minaret, built by the Bahmani rulers also attracts numerous tourists every year.

Ellora

A world heritage site, lies 30 kms Northwest of Aurangabad. The caves house 34 monasteries and temples having some exclusive uninterrupted sequence of monuments dating back to 600 to 1000 AD. These temples are devoted to Brahmanism, Jainism, and Buddhism existing during the period. The temple also showcases some excellent stonework depicting legends related to Lord Shiva.

Shirdi

Approximately 144 kms from Aurangabad, Shirdi is a reverred pilgrimage site especially for the Hindus. Tourists from all over the world come here every year to pay tribute at the shrine of Sidhi Sai Baba. Moreover, some more holy shrines to the life of Sai Baba are also around.
